Aristo- - -aus dem Demos - - - Sekretär war; im - - -am - -zehnten, dem - - - (Tag) der Prytanie;von den Vorsitzenden leitete die Abstimmung - - -- - - und seine Mitvorsitzenden. - - -- - - aus dem Demos Halai stellte den Antrag: Da früher - - -- - - der - - - des Aristomachos - - -- - - gegenüber dem Volk - - -- - - Dienste erwiesen hat - - -- - - des Volkes; Kassandros aber - - -- - - der Generäle - - -- - - voraus bedachte - - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - - als dieStadt - - - eine Streitmachtentsandt hat, er als General dem Anführerdes Fußvolks und der Reiter befahl, dass ein Beweisder Partnerschaft und Freundschaft abgelegt werde, die zwischenden Argivern und dem Volk der Athener besteht; und nachdieser Entsendung, als es geschah, dass die unter dem Kommando des - - -stehenden (Soldaten) den Rückzug antraten, er mit den Argivernselbst kam und das Volk der Athener sicher in den Besitzder langen Mauern und des Piräus setzte; und - - -nun Aristomachos, der diesen Ehrgeiz für das Volk übernommen hat,diesen bewahrt und allen Athenern wohlwollend istund stets die beste Erinnerung an die Freiheitdes Volkes pflegt zu jeglichem Zeitpunkt;und als das Volk (der Athener) und die Stadt der Argivergemeinsam im Krieg gegen Alexander, den Sohn des Krateros, standenund die Gelegenheit sich ergab, dass die Argiver für eine kleinereGeldsumme für sich einen Waffenstillstand bekämenund Alexander Frieden geben wollte, er sich nicht dazu verstand,sondern, indem er aus eigenen Mitteln fünfzig Talentedazulegte, er einen gemeinsamen Frieden für beide Städtebewirkte; er auch im übrigen Sorge trägt allgemein fürdas Volk als auch speziell für diejenigen Athener, die nach Argos kommen,nach Kräften; er ankündigt, auch für die Zukunftdas Wohlwollen zu bewahren; – Damit nun auch - - -- - -

On the - - - of - - -,the - - - of the prytany.Of the presiding committee - - - son of - - - of - - - wasputting to the vote and his fellow presiding committee members - - -- - - of Halai proposed: since previously - - -- - - of Aristomachos - - -- - - for the People - - -- - - provided services - - -- - - of the People; and when Kassandros - - -- - - as general - - -- - - he had the foresight - - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - -- - - of thecity - - -when (the city of Argos(?)) despatched a force he as general gave orders to theleader of the infantry and cavalry to make a demonstrationof the existing intimacy and friendship of the Argivesfor the Athenian People; and after this despatch,when it happened that those stationed there by - - -effected their withdrawal, [he arrived with]the Argives and helped put the Athenian People safely in possessionof the Long Walls and the Piraeus - - -Aristomachos then has taken up and maintainsthe love of honour for the People and is of good will to all Atheniansand has continued to be mindful of the freedomof the People in the most effective way at every opportunity;and when a war occurred involving the (Athenian) People and thecity of Argos against Alexander son of Krateros,an opportunity arose for the Argives to make a trucefor themselves at minimal expense, and althoughAlexander was offering peace, he (Aristomachos) did not think that this should be, butproviding an additional fifty talents from his own fundshe made the peace common to both cities;and in remaining matters he looks after in whatever way is possibleboth the People collectively, and individually Athenians who arriveat Argos, and promises for the futureto maintain his good will; in order therefore - - -- - -
